Ethiopia, Cameroon agree to resume political consultations

Addis Ababa, July 12, 2023 (FBC) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen this afternoon held a bilateral discussion with Cameroonian Foreign Minister Lejeune Mbella at the Ethiopian Embassy in Kenya.

During the meeting the two sides have discussed on ways of further cementing cooperation at bilateral, continental and multilateral venues.

Demeke and Mbella, who are in Nairobi to take part in the upcoming 43rd Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union (13-14 July 2023), agreed to further cement longstanding diplomatic relations. Among others, they have also agreed to resume political consultations.

Demeke said, Ethiopia accords special attention to its relation with the West African country.

He also briefed the FM on the progress of the implementation of the Pretoria Peace Agreement and lauded Cameroon’s support on international fora.
