Ethiopia committed to fostering sustainable growth, building strong int’l partnerships

Addis Ababa, February 13, 2024 (FBC) – Ethiopian delegation, consisting of Minister of Water and Energy Habtamu Itefa, Minister of Innovation and Technology Belete Molla, Minister Irrigation and Lowlands Aisha Mohammed, Mayor of Addis Ababa Ms. Adanech Abiebie, and Ethiopian Ambassador to the UAE Oumer Hussein Oba, is actively participating in the ongoing World Governments Summit being held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The summit, themed “shaping future governments,” kicked off on Monday 12 February, promising three days of insightful discussions and strategic planning. Running from February 12 to February 14, the summit brings together global leaders, policymakers, experts, and other influential figures to discuss and deliberate on various topics related to the future of governance.

Ethiopia’s participation in this global event highlights its commitment to staying engaged in shaping the trajectory of governments worldwide. As one of the largest economies in Africa, Ethiopia recognizes the importance of robust governance systems in driving sustainable economic growth, ensuring social welfare, and fostering international cooperation.

Through its involvement in the summit, Ethiopia aims to build strategic partnerships, exchange knowledge and experiences, and learn from the best practices of other nations in order to enhance its own governance structures. The goal is to explore innovative approaches and technologies that can contribute to the nation’s ongoing efforts in ensuring transparent, accountable, and efficient governance.

Ethiopia’s representatives at the summit are expected to engage in high-level dialogues, attend panel discussions, and participate in interactive sideline sessions that focus on different aspects of future governance. The topics cover a wide range of areas, including digital transformation, effective policymaking, citizen engagement, sustainable development, water conservation on irrigation and management, and public service delivery.
