Ethiopia determined to ensure internet access for all citizens: Minister

Addis Ababa, November 28, 2022 (FBC) – Ethiopia is determined to ensure access to the Internet for its citizens, said Minister of Innovation and Technology, Belete Molla.

The 17th annual international Internet Governance Forum (IGF Ethiopia 2022) partial sessions commenced earlier today in Addis Ababa, according to the report by Ethiopian News Agency.

Representatives from different countries cross the planet are participating in the international forum.

The issue of ​​”good practices and recommendations for inclusive digital infrastructure” was discussed on the opening session.

The Minister of Innovation and Technology, Belete Molla, who presented Ethiopia’s experience on the field, stated that special attention is being paid to the extension of Internet infrastructure to realize digital Ethiopia 2025 aspirations.

He further announced that Ethiopia is determined to ensure access to the Internet for its citizens. The Minister invited international partners who are interested to work with Ethiopia.

It has been reported that the main opening of the 17th annual Internet Governance Forum (IGF Ethiopia 2022) will be carried out tomorrow.

Internet access is one of the issues that accelerated the world’s economic growth and people’s daily activities.

The Internet Governance Forum was established 17 years ago with the intention of leading the sector and benefiting the people across the world.

It is expected that the countries of the world will consult about Internet management, where recommendations will be made for policy makers and decision makers.

It is to be remembered that the global governing body has selected Ethiopia to host the 17th edition.

The event is scheduled to be hosted from 28 November to 2 December 2022 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, under the overarching theme “Resilient Internet for a Shared Sustainable and Common Future.”
