Ethiopia eyes agricultural products market in Pakistan

Addis Ababa, May 20, 2022 (FBC) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Ambassador Jamal Bekir, had a meeting with Dr. Adugna Debela, Director-General of Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority.

Noting the all-time high exports of Ethiopian coffee this year, Ambassador Jamal reiterated Ethiopia’s preparation to utilize opportunities and expand the market for Ethiopian coffee, tea, and spices in Pakistan.

Dr. Adugna Debela, on his part, briefed the Ambassador about the priorities, policies, and strategies of the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority that aimed to expand the market for Ethiopia’s agricultural products and replicate the success in exporting coffee this fiscal year.

Ethiopia opened its Embassy in Islamabad to enhance its diplomatic reach and expand engagements with Pakistan, particularly in trade, technology transfer, and investment.

The two sides noted the need to work closely and cooperate to register better results on the ground.
