Ethiopia implementing national policies to tackle child rights violations: MoWSA

Addis Ababa, May 12, 2022 (FBC) – The Minister of Women and Social Affairs, Ergoge Tesfay (PhD) stated that Ethiopia has put in place relevant national policies to address child right,

In her remarks at the Pan-African Symposium on Violence Prevention which is aimed at tackling rising levels of violence against children.

She said that the government devised and implemented the relevant national policies of child right in line with the UN and AU instruments of human rights and right of children.

Ergoge also added that these relevant instruments on child and human rights as well as the national policies on child right have massively contributed in the mitigation of child right abuse in all forms.

The aim of the symposium is to renew the commitment of countries across the continent to step up and explore home grown African solutions to prevent violence against children.

Senior government officials and civil society leaders from over 30 African countries have attended the meeting to demonstrate their high level commitment on the realization of child right in Africa.

The symposium is organized by the African Partnership to End Violence against Children (APEVAC) and the African Child Policy Forum (ACPF) lasts for three consecutive days from May 11 to 13, 2022.
