Ethiopia, Japan vow to deepen bilateral cooperation

Addis Ababa, January 22, 2024 (FBC) – State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ambassador Mesganu Arga received and discussed with the newly-appointed Ambassador-Designate of Japan to Ethiopia, Ambassador Shibata Hironori, today.

Ambassador Mesganu expressed that Ethiopia and Japan have a robust and longstanding relations in economic, technical cooperation, development assistance and political spheres.

He further expressed Ethiopia’s readiness to solidify and deepen the multi-dimensional bilateral cooperation.

The State Minister also mentioned the untapped investment opportunities in Ethiopia and called for more investment from Japan.

Ambassador Shibata Hironori, for his part, stated Japan’s keenness to deepen and strengthen its bilateral cooperation with Ethiopia in various fields.

The Ambassador further stressed his commitment to enhance Japanese investment in Ethiopia, scale up bilateral trade, increase the flow of development assistance and technical cooperation during his tenure.

The two sides also exchanged ideas on current regional and international affairs.
