Ethiopia repatriates more than 40,000 citizens from Saudi Arabia in four months
Addis Ababa, June 24, 2022 (FBC) – The national committee composed of 16 government offices and partner institutions to repatriate Ethiopian citizens discussed the progress achieved thus far on Friday.
Chaired by Ambassador Siraj Rashid, the meeting discussed, among other issues, the tasks accomplished and the challenges encountered.
The meeting noted that up to June 22, 40% of the plan of repatriating 102,000 citizens from Saudi Arabia was achieved.
Accordingly, in 111 flights from March 30-June 22, more than 40,794 citizens were repatriated to their home country. The progress meeting also discussed the on-going works of repatriating citizens from African countries. Challenges related to waiting places and baggage delays, among others, were discussed.
