Ethiopia, Sudan agree to resolve border issue once and for all: MFA

Addis Ababa, December 22, 2020 (FBC) –The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said Ethiopia and Sudan have agreed to resolve border issue once and for all.

Ambassador Dina Mufti, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs blamed enemies of Ethiopia for trying to escalate the recent border incident.

Despite their (enemies) efforts to escalate the situation, the two countries have vowed to resolve the issues peacefully once and for all, he said in an exclusive interview with FBC yesterday.

Enemies of Ethiopia who wanted to amplify the problem have failed and will not succeed, Ambassador Dina said.

There was an attack from the Sudan’s side of lower structure, Ambassador Dina said, adding the problem is not linked with the Sudan’s government.

However, enemies of Ethiopia rushed to seize the incident to escalate the situation, he said, adding the border issue between the two countries will be resolved peacefully through dialogue.

During the 38th Extraordinary Assembly of IGAD Heads of State and Government, Prime Ministers of both countries discussed on the issue.
