Ethiopia to receive €60.5 million humanitarian support from EU

Addis Ababa, March 29, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia will receive €60.5 million (over 3 billion ETB) humanitarian aid from the European Union, according to EU’s country office in Addis Ababa.

EU announced €331 million humanitarian aid for Greater Horn of Africa, primarily targeting food insecurity, displaced persons / refugees, disaster preparedness, education.

Hence, in 2023, the EU is allocating over €60.5 million to humanitarian projects in Ethiopia, supporting actions for conflict- and drought-affected populations, it is noted.

It is confirmed that Ethiopia hosts over 875,000 refugees, mainly from South Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea, and Sudan. They rely almost entirely on humanitarian aid to meet their basic needs.

Moreover, EU also revealed that it is working to provide additional funding.
