Ethiopia, UAE discuss ways of bolstering media cooperation

Addis Ababa, August 5, 2023 (FBC) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to the United Arab Emirates, Oumer Hussein, met with the Director General of the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi to discuss ways of bolstering Media Cooperation between the two countries.

During the discussion, Ambassador Oumer stated that the strong friendship between Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates in the political and economic fields should also be further strengthened through people-to-people relations.

In particular, cooperation through the media opens doors and creates more height for the friendship between the countries, he said, calling for scaling up of the existing efforts on the exchange of information and technology between Ethiopian media outlets and WAM.

The Director General of WAM, Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi, on his part, expressed his desire to work closely with broadcasting, print and other organizations engaged in the media sector in Ethiopia, disclosing that activities are being done to commence cooperation by signing a memorandum of understanding documents.

The WAM Director called on the Ambassador to provide the necessary support to the Ethiopian media outlets for their active participation in the Global Media Congress 2023, which will be held in Abu Dhabi in November 2023, so that they can establish ties with many international media institutions.
