Ethiopia working to build strong and sustainable logistics system: Ministry

Addis Ababa, January 9, 2024 (FBC) – Ethiopia is endeavoring to establish a robust and enduring logistics infrastructure, according to the Ministry of Transport and Logistics (MoTL.

This information surfaced during a half-day validation workshop on Ethiopia’s Logistics Masterplan Phase I Diagnostic, commencing today and hosted by the Ethiopian Maritime Authority.

Speaking at the validation workshop, State Minister of Transport and Logistics, Denge Boru, said his government is striving to forge a resilient and sustainable logistics framework.

The Masterplan, according to him, will contribute in improving the effectiveness of the Ethiopian logistics sector.

Stressing the importance of improving the logistics sector, he said this first phase of Ethiopian Logistics Masterplan will help identify missions, implement major projects in the sector and have a common understanding to increase global competitiveness.

The State Minister further mentioned about the pivotal role being played by the logistics sector for the country’s economic development, emphasizing the need to regularly update the plan to ensuring its effectiveness.

Moreover, he reiterated that the logistics sector should be modernized with technology, capacity building, among other to ensure its benefit.

The Ethiopian Logistics Masterplan has developed by DT Global, an international consultant.
