Ethiopian athletes, Ulfata Deressa and Siranesh Dagne win 2022 Lagos City Marathon

Addis Ababa, February 12, 2022 (FBC) – Ethiopian Athletes, Ulfata Deressa and Sranesh Dagne have won the 2022 Lagos City Marathon in men’s and women’s race respectively.

Ulfata Deressea completed the Lagos City Marathon in a time of 2.11.58 to emerge winner of the 7th edition of the competition on Saturday.

Ulfata beat about 300 marathoners on Saturday morning to win the 42km race. He will be claiming the grand prize of $30,000.

He also bested David Barmasai and Emmanuel Naibei — both from Kenya — who finished second and third, respectively and will go home with $20,000 and $15,000, respectively.

Likewise, Siranesh Dagne has finished the women’s race in 2 hours 33 minutes and 50 seconds. She is the first women to finish line at 2 hours 33 minutes and 50 seconds.

She was followed in second place by compatriot Alemenseh Hirpa and Kenya’s Naomi Maiyo in third place.
