Ethiopian cross-border trucks terminal eases truck congestion, increases safety

Addis Ababa, February 17, 2021 (FBC) -Funded by the Federal Roads Authority, the Ethiopian cross-border trucks terminal launched today in the presence of Ethiopian and Djibouti officials.

In his opening remark, State Minister of Transport, Awal Wagris said the launching of the terminal demonstrates Government’s commitment to meet the growing need for expansion of service due to Ethiopia’s increasing volume in the import-export of goods and commodities.

The Minister added the success of the terminal is a clear demonstration to the unrelenting commitments by the governments of the two sisterly countries in fast tracking the economic integration they sought to champion.

The Minister commended the government of Djibouti for supporting the project as well as allowing for further expansion of the terminal.

The Chinese company dubbed Zhongmei Engineering group was the contractor overseeing the construction of the terminal.
