Ethiopian delegation participates in G77+China Summit in Cuba

Addis Ababa, September 15, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopian delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Demeke Mekonnen, is attending the Summit of the Group of 77 and China Heads of State and Governments that kicked off today in Havana, Cuba.

President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canal Bermudez, in his opening remark, said, due attention should be paid to the development of science and technology is a matter of survival for the global South.

Antonio Gutters, the UN Secretary General, on his part, noted that Group77 and China can play critical role in ensuring justice in the global system.

DPM & FM Demeke who arrived in Havana yesterday is expected to deliver his speech .

It is learned that 24 Heads of state and government are attending Havana Summit. Also in attendance is the former president of the Republic Cuba Raul Castro, as per MFA Ethiopia.
