Ethiopian national team head coach resigns by mutual consent

Addis Ababa, April 15,2023 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Football Federation announced that Wubetu Abate has resigned as head coach of the Ethiopian national football team by mutual agreement.

The outgoing coach has led the Ethiopian national team as the head coach since September 2020.

Wubetu Abate was under mounting pressure following the Ethiopian national football team’s back-to-back defeats against Guinea in the recent AFCON 2024 qualifier.

The Federation parted ways with Wubetu after the executive committee accepted the coach’s resignation letter and discussed on the matter.

The Ethiopian Football Federation thanked Wubetu Abate for his contribution to the Ethiopian national team during his tenure.
