Ethiopians honor the flag with blood and sweat, fly it high with hard work: Gov’t

Addis Ababa, October 17, 2022 (FBC) – The 15th National Flag Day is being celebrated across Ethiopia today with various events with the theme of “Ethiopian flag is manifestation of diversity and pillar of sovereignty”.

National Flag Day is usually celebrated on the first Monday of October in the Ethiopian calendar.

The FDRE Government Communication Service has issued a statement regarding the 15th National Flag Day.

The statement says “celebration of the national flag day shows Ethiopians are defending the country that they maintained with their blood and sweat.”

According to the Government Communication Service’s statement, “A flag is a national symbol. Heroes sacrificed for this emblem. They won on the world stage. This flag has left an indelible seal in the heart of children and adults.”

The statement underlined that the flag of Ethiopia is the common history of its citizens in the past, the seal of their honor and identity that binds efforts of the present and hopes for tomorrow as well as common national unity.

“Our country, Ethiopia, is the home of gallant citizens who have fought for its sovereignty and unity through ages. This generation is flying its flag high and bringing shame to its eternal enemies who are trying to dismantle it,” the statement continues.

“Ethiopia is the land of millions of Black Lions. Its enemies near and far have gone as far as they can to disintegrate it in collaboration with local gangs of terrorists. However, thanks to the sacrifices and strength of it’s indomitable citizens, the enemies desire has become an illusion”, it claimed.

The statement said that these hell-bent and power craving enemies have left no stone unturned and been plotting long and hard to intensify conflicts in every corners of the country, sponsor conflicts and discourage the people.

When each of their plots crippled and vanished, they attacked the Ethiopian Defense Force at night and initiated a war. Yet again, thanks to the collective efforts of brave Ethiopians who fought for the honor of the flag, the eternal enemies attempt has been foiled, the statement noted.

In particular, security forces have been defending the nation from the terrorists who waged war against the nation. They honored Ethiopian flag with their blood, it stated.

According to the statement, these historic enemies tried to cripple the national economy and divert the its attention only into war frontline by initiating conflicts repeatedly.

Their aim was thwarted by dint of the determination of valiant Ethiopians, the statement reads.

With the motto of ​​”We defend the nation with our blood and we maintain its sovereignty with our sweat”, Ethiopians are maintaining and building the nation by plowing with one hand and shielding the country from enemy with the other hand, the statement further reads.

Hence, Ethiopia is producing more agricultural products than ever before.

By completing huge national projects such as  GERD, Ethiopia has disillusioned its enemies who are plotting to impose doom on its citizens. For this reason, the dignity of the country is maintained and the flag is flying high, the statement says.

“As the people and government of Ethiopia are speeding up their development engagements and fighting the war, famous and young athletes have declared the victory of their country on global stages. They waved the flag high.  They have become the pride of Ethiopia and Africa at large”, the statement further indicated.

The Service’s statement shows that despite the challenges it faced at the moment, Ethiopia has continued its development endeavors with great success while fighting against its enemies.

It is difficult to maintain national sovereignty without food sovereignty. It is difficult to sustainably ensure the dignity of the flag through aid wheat, the statement stressed.

The Government Communication Service calls on Ethiopians to be engaged in development activities and fly the flag high that heroes honored with blood on the battlefields.
