Ethiopians, friends in Oceania region raise $62,550AUD for conflict victims

Addis Ababa, October 16, 2022 (FBC) – Ethiopians and friends of Ethiopia who reside in Australia and NewZealand organized a fundraiser to provide support for victims of the conflict in the north and raised 62,550.00 Australian dollars.

The Ethiopian embassy in Canberra, Australia, held a Zoom meeting with members of the Ethiopian community in Australia and New Zealand.

At this introductory meeting with the diaspora in Oceania region, Ethiopian Ambassador to Australia, Tsegab Kebebew, appreciated the existing positive interaction with the mission.

The Ambassador expressed his gratitude for their active support of Ethiopia’s peace, development, and social agendas.

He further urged participants to join in the national movement to raise funds to aid those affected by the ongoing conflict.

The funds go to rehabilitation of the displaced and reconstruction of infrastructure, he said.

According to Ambassador Tsega, the organizers of the fundraiser are still aiming to raise more than 100,000 AUD.
