Ethiopians rule the Silesia Diamond League 2023
Addis Ababa, July 16, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopian athletes conquer the top 4 places of the 1500m women’s race at the Memoriał Kamili Skolimowskiej, as Hirut Meshesha wins the battle against her compatriots in a meeting record of 3:54.87.
In the breathtaking race, Hirut Meshesha (3:54.87), Birke Hayelom (3:54.93), Diribe Welteji (3:55.08), and Worknesh Mesele (3:57.00) dominated the top 4 places at the Silesia Diamond League – Memorial Kamila Skolimowska 2023 in Chorzow, Poland.
Meanwhile, the other Ethiopian athlete Freweyni Hailu takes the 3000m title with a meeting record of 8:26.61, two weeks after her 1500m win in Stockholm.
Hailemariam Amare finished 2nd in men’s 3000m steeplechase race, behind Spain’s Aboujanah El Mehdi. Abreham Sime and Getnet Wale finished 13th and 15th, respectively.
The Silesia Diamond League 2023 is taking place today July 16, 2023, at the Silesian Stadium, which is also the National Athletics Stadium.
