Ethiopia’s growing diplomatic engagement brings strong cooperation framework in health sector: Minister

Addis Ababa, August 26, 2023 (FBC) – The Minister of Health, Dr. Lia Taddese, stated that Ethiopia’s increasing engagement in multilateral diplomacy will help bring about a strong cooperation framework in the health sector.

In view of Ethiopia’s entry to the BRICS bloc, Dr. Lia said that the prospect of cooperation between the member countries is an opportunity for the health sector.

The cooperation will help develop the capacity of medicine and vaccine manufacturing, she said.

She also said that Ethiopia will strengthen the bilateral agreements it has reached with many countries in terms of building its health system.

Dr. Lia noted that the cooperation within this framework will help to attract investments in the health sector besides increasing financial capacity.

This will lead to the expansion of large specialty hospitals, she added.
