EU contributes over €4m to FAO’s desert locust operations in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, May 29, 2021 (FBC) -The European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) has contributed €4.1 million to the FAO’s desert locust control programme in Ethiopia.

With the funding, FAO will lease two fixed-wing aircraft and two helicopters and procure fuel, vehicles, and trucks, according to FAO in Ethiopia.

FAO will also facilitate the construction of storage facilities for the Ministry of Agriculture’s most strategic locations for desert locust operations, including the central storage in Addis Ababa.
