FM Gedu bids farewell to outgoing German ambassador

Addis Ababa, May 20, 2020 (FBC) –Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedu Andargachew today received at his office the outgoing ambassador of Germany to Ethiopia, Brita Wagener.

Gedu thanked the ambassador for the contribution she has made during her tenure to consolidate the comprehensive bilateral relations between the two countries.

Expressing his sorrow over the loss of lives worldwide due to COVID-19, the Foreign Minister also extended his gratitude to Germany for its support to Ethiopia’s efforts to curb the spread of the pandemic.

Gedu also provided a briefing to the ambassador on Ethiopia’s constructive role in the region as well as about negotiations held so far with Sudan and Egypt regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.

Ambassador Wagener for her part thanked the government for the support she was provided with and pledged to do her part after returning to her home country to further cement the ties between the two nations.

She said Germany will continue to work with Ethiopia in the battle against the coronavirus as global solidarity is key to deal with the disease.
