Germany vows to finance PSNP in Ethiopia’s rural areas with 30 million Euros

Addis Ababa, April 29, 2022 (FBC) – A German delegation in Ethiopia visited an urban cash-for-work program site in Addis Ababa.

Deputy Mayor of Addis Ababa, Jantirar Abay and representatives of the World Bank Ethiopia have accompanied the delegation during the visit.

The delegation consisted of representatives of the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the German Embassy and various journalists from the German media.

On the occasion, German Embassy in Addis Ababa announced that Germany will finance the World Bank’s Productive Safety Net Project (PSNP) in Ethiopia’s rural areas with 30 million Euros.

The German government also expressed interest to support low income Ethiopians through an all-encompassing safety net with the help of the World Bank. According to the Embassy, beneficiaries receive regular financial allocations for basic needs and they are encouraged to do some public work.

Deputy Mayor of Addis Ababa Jantirar Abay, on behalf of the City Administration, has praised the German government for its continued support to Ethiopia.
