Government pledges continued support to Chinese companies in industrial parks

Addis Ababa March 7, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopian Investment Commission Commissioner, Lelise Neme and Minister Consular Yang Yi Hang of the Chinese Embassy visited Huajian Industrial Park and its leather products manufacturing companies.

According to the Ethiopian Investment Commission, following Huajian’s expansion interest, Lelise expressed her appreciation to Huajian, a Chinese shoe producing company for resuming its operation of the park. 

EIC stated that the commissioner also informed the Government’s full support to the park and laying the ground for a conducive investment environment in the country. 

EIC disclosed that the visit provided a good insight of the Park’s operational status and enabled it to gauge its support needs from EIC. 

Huajian, a Chinese shoe producing company signed an agreement with the government of Ethiopia to manage and operate Ethiopia’s Jimma Industrial Park (JIP).

The agreement was signed between Zhang Huarong, President of Huajian Group and Lelise Neme, in May, 2019. Huajian invested 100 million U.S. dollars to construct shoe manufacturing plants and coffee processing plants in Ethiopia.
