Harari region welcomes gov’t’s call for peace agreement implementation, support rebuilding and rehab efforts

Addis Ababa, November 6, 2022 (FBC) – The peace agreement is a cornerstone to ensure stability and an opportunity to give full attention to development endeavors in Ethiopia, said Harari region government.

Harari’s region government communication service has released a statement regarding the peace agreement reached between the Ethiopian government and TPLF.

The statement pointed out the peace agreement guarantees Ethiopia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and lasting peace.

The statement recalled that the Ethiopian government has repeatedly shown its commitment to peace even from the beginning, and its position to hold AU-led peace talks has brought excellent outcome.

The peace agreement brokered by the African Union has shown in practice that Africans can solve their problems on their own. Furthermore, it has made it difficult for those who do not want the peace of our country and the journey of prosperity that we have started to realize, the Region’s statement said.

Apart from wholeheartedly supporting the proper implementation of the peace agreement reached, the government and people of Harari region affirmed its readiness to contribute to the efforts to rebuild and rehabilitate the areas affected by the conflict.

The region conveyed a message to all patriotic citizens in Ethiopia and abroad to show their collective support for the efforts to rehabilitate the victims and rebuild the damaged institutions.

The region also called on all citizens to fulfill their national obligations by contributing to the implementation of the issues agreed upon and the establishment of lasting peace in the country.

The Harari regional government expressed gratitude to “all those who worked hard and paid invaluable sacrifices. They all deserve great respect for their priceless contribution for peace agreement.”
