ICRC donates 100 water pumps to conflict affected people in northern Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, November 23, 2022 (FBC) – The International Community of the Red Cross (ICRC) has offered 100 water pumps to Raya Kobo town administration to help increase access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene in the area.

The donation is aimed to address shortage of water and sanitation facilities among communities affected by the conflict in the northern Ethiopia, ICRC said.

“Access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene remain challenging for communities affected by the conflict in Northern Ethiopia,” ICRC noted.

The water pumps donated by ICRC will be serving about 35,000 people in Kobo and surrounding areas in the northern part of the country.

Six ICRC trucks arrived in Mekelle, Tigray on Monday with food and additional medical supplies. Last week, ICRC teams in Tigray have so far distributed urgently needed medical supplies to 9 health facilities in and around Mekelle.
