ICRC launches solar-powered water pump project in Lalibela town

Addis Ababa, August 15, 2022 (FBC) – Residents of Lalibela town, Amhara Region are suffering from shortage of water and other social services after conflict damaged social infrastructures in the area.

Electric power supply is totally disrupted in the town due to the conflict and residents are using manual mechanisms to collect drinking waters as a result of rising price of fuel which is needed by generators.

To address the problem, ICRC has started solar-powered pump project that uses solar energy panels to generate power. Upon completion the project would help address the problem in sustainable manner, ICRC stated.
