IFRC president in Addis Ababa for a four-day working visit

Addis Ababa, March 28, 2024 (FBC) – Kate Forbes, the President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), has arrived in Addis Ababa on Wednesday for a four-day working visit.

Mr. Abera Tola, President of the Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS), alongside senior management members, welcomed Ms. Kate Forbes and her delegation for what promises to be a series of critical discussions, ERCS indicated.

In a productive meeting, Ms. Kate Forbes engaged in fruitful deliberations with ERCS senior officials regarding the urgent response to the pressing humanitarian assistance needs in northern Ethiopia.

Recognizing the importance of the situation, both parties have taken proactive steps towards organizing a diplomatic roundtable discussion, focusing on fundraising initiatives aimed at saving lives in the afflicted regions, Ethiopian Red Cross Society further indicated.

On the occasion, ERCS officials shed light on the pressing need for concerted action and support.
