IGAD Executive Secretary in Mekelle for launch of Joint Monitoring & Evaluation Mechanism

Addis Ababa, December 29, 2022 (FBC) – The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Workneh Gebeyehu has arrived in Mekelle, capital of Tigray region to attend the official launch of the Joint Monitoring and Verification Mechanism that has been established by the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement.

The Executive Secretary has reaffirmed IGAD’s commitment to successfulness of the implementation of the peace agreement signed betweent he federal government of Ethiopia and TPLF.

The IGAD delegation has been accompanied by the Former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, the AU Special Representative for the Horn of Africa and former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo and other members of the Pretoria Peace Agreement Committee.
