Ministry, SGS ink agreement to jointly develop $50mln worth geochemistry laboratory

Addis Ababa, November 11, 2022 (FBC) – The Ministry of Mines & Petroleum and General Society of Surveillance (SGS) Group have signed an agreement to develop a mineral assessment and research laboratory.

Following the agreement with the Swiss multinational company, Minister of Mines and Petroleum, Takele Uma, stated on social media, that the geochemistry laboratory will be built at a cost of 50 million USD.

It is stated that the laboratory is expected to solve the problems of the mining sector and increase the competitiveness of Ethiopia in the global mining market through increasing the quality of minerals.

The agreement was inked between the two sides at the Mining and Technology International Expo (MINTEX 2022), being held in Addis Ababa.
