Mrs. Melat Hailu, Mr. Tadesse Lemma nominated for chairmanship of election board

Addis Ababa, December 2, 2023 (FBC) – Mrs. Melatework Hailu and Mr. Tadesse Lemma have been nominated for chairmanship of the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE).

It is to be recalled that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) named a committee tasked to recruiting a candidate for chairmanship of NEBE last month.

The committee established by the Premier has held a press conference to explain about the activiites it has undertaken since assuming office.

The committee stated that it shortlisted 5 out of 56 nominees it had received from the public. And, two of the nominees have been chosen based on detailed criterial and recruitment process, the committee told the media.

The two nominees will be referred to the Prime Minister and the one will be chosen and then appointed as Chiarperson of the NEBC after approval by the House of Peoples Representatives.
