New Country Director Claude Gibdar Pledges WFP’s continued support to Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, April 14, 2022 (FBC) – The Protocol Affairs Director General Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Demeke Atanafu, received the newly appointed World Food Program (WFP) Country Representative to Ethiopia, Claude Gibdar.

Demeke appreciated WFP’s continued humanitarian assistance to people affected by man-made and natural disasters in Ethiopia.

He told the Country Representative that the Government of Ethiopia has declared the humanitarian truce to ensure enabling environment for the relief operation.

The government has facilitated favorable conditions for both road and air transport to expedite humanitarian operations into Tigray Region, pledging continued support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to this end.

Claude Gibdar, for his part, WFP is committed to continue to strengthen its humanitarian assistance to people in need in all parts of Ethiopia.

He presented his letter stating his new appointment as WFP Country Director to Ethiopia to the Protocol Director.
