Over 40,000 still out of school in war affected areas of Afar Region

Addis Ababa, March 30, 2022 (FBC) – Regional Education Bureau announced that more than 40,000 children are still out of school in Afar Regional State.

Education Bureau Head Deresa Mohammed recalled that more than 90,000 students were learning in the region before TPLF invaded the region, saying that over 40 thousands of them have not yet returned to schools due to damages brought to class rooms, dining rooms and water facilities by the outlawed group.

Furthermore, the children of the region are still suffering from serious post war traumatic conditions emanated from high explosions and atrocities committed by the TPLF forces.

Efforts are underway to get the children returned to schools and restore damaged infrastructures, Deresa added.
