Parliament approves appointment of three ministers

Addis Ababa, January 30, 2020 (FBC) –The Ethiopian parliament has a proved the appointment of three minister nominated by Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed.

Accordingly, it approved the appointment of Dr-Ing Getahun Mekuria as Minister of Education, Melaku Alebel as Minister of Trade and Industry and Dr Abrham Belay as Minister of Innovation and Technology.

The three ministers have been sworn into office by Meaza Ashenafi, President of the Federal Supreme Court of Ethiopia, in the parliament.

The Parliament also evaluated a half-year performance report presented to it by Prof Hirut Woldemariam, Minister of Science and Higher Education.

She said administrative measures were taken against more than 1,200 students, teachers and administrative staff for having links in the unrest occurred in universities since early November.
