PM Abiy honors police for outstanding contribution in defending nation’s sovereignty

Addis Ababa, June 5, 2022 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has commended service of the Police in fending off several threats against sovereignty of Ethiopia, and expressed his pride for their outstanding contributions and dedication to the public.

Police have always been in the forefront of law enforcement operations undertaken so far to counter adversities against the sovereignty of the country.

The Government has organized a national thanksgiving ceremony at Meskel Square in the capital to recognize the police for their outstanding services. The Premier congratulated members of the police for the thanksgiving occasion.

The Prime Minister expressed his confidence that police will continue its irreplaceable role not only in safeguarding peace and security of the country but also supporting development endeavors for realization of prosperity of the nation.

He further stated that the newly enacted reform in the police sector would promote professional standards within the service and pave the way for peaceful and prosperous Ethiopia.

Federal and regional senior government officials, top military officers, members of the diplomatic community and guests have attended the event.
