PM calls on Addis dwellers to maintain Ethiopian hospitality during AU Summit

Addis Ababa, February 7, 2020 (FBC) –Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed has called on Addis Ababa dwellers to maintain Ethiopian hospitality during AU Summit.

The 33rd African Union (AU) Summit will be held in Addis Ababa over the weekend from 9-10 February 2020.

Addis Ababa, the capital of Africa, the world’s third largest diplomatic centre and the seat of the AU, has prepared to welcome its guests.

“In order to make this AU Summit a success, I ask the residents of Addis Ababa to maintain the Ethiopian hospitality that you have had for centuries,” he said in a message posted on Facebook.

“If the road is blocked due to the conference, and if some of our normal activities are interrupted, let us accept that it is due to the priority we Ethiopians give for our guests,” he added.

“All of you in the hospitality business, remember that you are the ambassadors of Ethiopia; the police men and women on the streets, you are trusted by the Ethiopian people to usher their guests, all assigned individuals and experts from Bole Airport to the Conference Hall are mirrors of your country. I am confident in your service.”

“From this day to the end of the conference, I call on all Ethiopians to do their utmost in cooperation and guidance. Above all, I urge you continue your victorious prayers.”

The 36th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the AU opened yesterday with the theme “Silencing the guns: creating conditions for Africa’s development.”
