Police Commission investigating into embezzlement of 9.4bn birr public funds

Addis Ababa, October 16, 2020 (FBC) –The Federal Police Commission said it has opened investigation into embezzlement of 9.4 billion birr public funds.

The commission is waiting for audit report to file charges soon, said Zelalem Mengistie, Federal Police Deputy Commissioner General and Head of Crime Investigation Bureau.

While briefing the media today, he added, the commission filed charges against individuals suspected of misusing 270 million birr from the Ministry of Education.

The Deputy Commissioner also warned those groups who operate in an informal structure to replace police activities, stating that the Government will no longer tolerate such kind of move.
