Police intercept 6,150kg of narcotics disguised as gypsum powder

Addis Ababa, December 14, 2022 (FBC) – Police  in Omo Zone of Southern Nations Nationalities and Peoples Region of Ethiopia has intercepted 6,150Kg of narcotics concealed in packages of gypsum powder and loaded on a truck, en route to Kenya.

The truck loaded with the drug has been intercepted while crossing the Brayle town in Benatsemay district of Omo Zone.

The seizure was made with support of close inspection carried out by Special Forces of the Southern Nations and Nationalities and Peoples Region of Ethiopia.

A man suspected of smuggling the drug and the driver are said to have escaped while the driver helper was arrested and being investigated, Police said.
