President Sahle-Work Zewde confers with her Greek counterpart

Addis Ababa, March 20, 2024 (FBC) – The historic bonds of friendship and cooperation between Greece and Ethiopia were reaffirmed during the meeting between President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou which took place at the presidential mansion, on Tuesday.

Sakellaropoulou emphasized that there is a Greek community in Ethiopia which has had a dynamic presence for many decades, just as Ethiopians live in Greece.

President Sakellaropoulou added that the diaspora has been serving as a bridge that strengthens the bonds of friendship between the countries and cooperation in many areas, especially in the field of culture.

President Sahle-Work Zewde, for her part, stated that Ethiopia and Greece have been enjoying close bilateral ties, stressing the need to bring the relationship to the next level.

 

The President is in Greece on the occasion of the Women Political Leaders Summit taking place in Athens.
