Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed launches Ethiopian Federal Police’s EFPApp

Addis Ababa, May 23, 2023 (FBC) – In a move to enhance public safety and security, the Ethiopian Federal Police Commission (EFP), in collaboration with the Artificial Intelligence Institute, today launched the ‘EFP Citizen Engagement App’ (EFPApp) at its headquarters in Addis Ababa in the presence of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Truneh.

This initiative is part of the broader Digital Ethiopia strategy, which aims to deliver essential services to the citizenry, as noted by the Prime Minister in a social media post.

“To fully realize its potential, all sectoral endeavors must be supported by the Digital Ethiopia framework,” PM Abiy emphasized.

Highlighting the app’s features, the premier stated, “Over the past six years, the Federal Police has transitioned from analog to digital systems. In our increasingly urbanized society, active citizen engagement is paramount. Available on the App Store and Play Store, this application empowers citizens to actively participate in preventing criminal activities by providing tips via photo, video, voice recordings, documents, or direct calls.”

Furthermore, PM Abiy extended a call to all citizens to be proactive in securing our neighborhoods and cities, underscoring the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining public safety and order through this innovative digital platform.
