Qatar, UK Investors express strong desire to invest in Banking, ICT sectors in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa January 26, 2023 (FBC) – International investors from Qatar and UK have expressed strong desire to be engaged in banking, sport academy and ICT sectors in Ethiopia.

International investors who have participated in Invest Origins (IO2023), a global investment forum which kicked off today with various attendees from the public and private sectors disclosed that they are planning to invest in the country.

Invest Origins (IO2023) sets to draw high-caliber, diverse investments into Ethiopia’s flourishing market.

The international investors attended the IO2023, where investment opportunities in Ethiopia and enabling climate in country’s untapped potential have been explained in details.

Yasin Mohammed, Gulf and Middle East Africa Commercial Representation from Doha, Qatar exclusively disclosed to FBC Digital that his company signed a MoU with a private Ethiopian Bank in its capacity building, finical investment, and corresponding banking system which enables partners from Middle East to partner in joint venture mechanism.

John Lawisa, Managing Director of a Global Shipping company from London, UK on his part disclosed that his company is planning to establish a world class sport academy which as to him is a huge untapped sector with various sub-sectoral divisions of investment in Ethiopia.

John said that the planning of his company includes investments in sectors of Physiotherapy, sport technical support on training, and Europe Knowledge of Athletics.

Alim Takur, another Investor from India also said that he is planning to expand his business in Ethiopia’s ICT sector with a great emphasis on Robotics, cyber security and smart transportation.

The investors participated in the forum have provided with elaborated information on panels about the enabling business atmosphere in Ethiopia.

The investors who took part in the forum also appreciated the investment opportunities in Ethiopia and further expressed their interest to invest in various sectors in Ethiopia.
