Qualified bidders for 8 state-owned sugar enterprises to be revealed next week: MoF

Addis Ababa, October 13, 2023 (FBC) – The Ministry of Finance (MoF) today confirmed that the qualified bidders from the tendering for the privatization of 8 state-owned sugar enterprises will be announced on October 20, 2023.

The Government of Ethiopia, through the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and Ethiopian Investment Holdings (EIH), announced the receipt of Technical and Financial Bids for the privatization of 8 state-owned sugar enterprises on October 5, 2023, the Ministry reminded in a press release.

Appreciating bidders for participating in the bidding process, the Ministry through the press release indicated that an evaluation team is currently reviewing the technical proposals and will communicate its findings with the qualified bidders by October 20, 2023.

It is stated that the descriptions of the evaluation criteria were set out in the Request for Proposal (RFP) shared with all interested investors.

The privatization of the sugar estates marks a pivotal move to ensure more efficient use of national resources by shifting towards a competitive market structure, with a greater role for the private sector in the economy.
