Real estate developers should consider citizens with middle, low income: Ministry

Addis Ababa, November 14, 2022 (FBC) – The Ministry of Urban and Infrastructure – Ethiopia (MoUI) stated that real estate developers should consider citizens with middle and low income.

The Ministry held discussion with real estate developers in Ethiopia on general issues and future directions of the sector.

According to the State Minister of Urban and Infrastructure, Wondmu Seta, the provision of housing is crucial for Ethiopia to be ranked among the countries that have developed in terms of urbanization in the next few decades.

He said that it is necessary to discard the traditional system to solve the housing problem, create new technologies, use local materials for construction, and solve the problems related to quality, budget and time.

The real estate sector should be made accessible to the middle and low income sections of the society beyond the high income residents, said the Ministry.

The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development of MoUI, Helen Debebe, for her part, said that it is necessary to implement new technologies in an organized and coordinated manner to solve the housing problem.
