Regional states express delight over historic MoU with Somaliland

Addis Ababa, January 2, 2024 (FBC) – Presidents of Regional State of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia have expressed delight over the historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) and President of Somaliland Muse Bihe Abdi allowing Ethiopia to secure access to sea.

The regional leaders underscored that the Memorandum of Understanding proves to be a historic moment that marks a milestone for Ethiopia’s burgeoning diplomatic success.

In their congratulatory message, the regional leaders pointed out that the historic MoU enables Ethiopia cement cooperation with Somaliland in political, diplomatic, economic and security spheres and put up course of action towards expanding options for sea outlets.

They also explained that the deal manifests the commitment of both Ethiopia and Somaliland to share aspirations with neighboring countries for shared development and prosperity.
