Russia—Africa Summit to be held every three years – President Putin

Saint Petersburg (FBC) – During the press conference held upon conclusion of the Second Russia-Africa Summit, President Vladimir Putin stated that fruitful discussions have been held between the Russian senior officials and the African leaders on ways of enhancing multifaceted cooperation between the federation and the continent.

The Russian President noted that the Summit once again confirmed the firm commitment of Russia and Africa to further development and the search for new forms of mutually beneficial cooperation. 

A package of documents was adopted and memorandums were signed, including the Russia–Africa Partnership Forum Action Plan to 2026. Russia—Africa Summit to be held every three years, Putin said.

Putin underscored that African leaders have shown political will to strengthen relations with Russia in a wide range of areas.

It is the time to boost the time tested friendship between Russia and Africa, he said recalling that Russia stood beside many African nations during their fight against colonialism, and supported their efforts in building statehoods.

Russia is committed to further strengthen its cooperation with Africa in areas of trade, economy, ICT, infrastructure, investment, energy, education and health, among others, the President noted.

He also pledged Russia’s commitment to support Africa’s efforts in fighting extremism and terrorism, ensuring food security and tackling climate change.  

Russia is committed to boost the health system in Africa and has already unveiled eight projects to be implemented by 1.8 billion rubles to boost Africa’s efficiency in preventing pandemics, Putin underscored.
