Saint George S.C. crowned as Ethiopian Premier League champions for 16th time
Addis Ababa, July 2, 2023 (FBC) – Saint George Sports Club, otherwise known as Kidus Giorgis, have been crowned as the 2023 Ethiopian Premier League champions for a record 16th time.
They have beaten Hadiya Hosana 2 – 0 today thanks to goals from Chernet Gugsa and the League’s top-scorer Ismail Ouro-Agoro. The defending champions retained the title 63 points from 29 matches 9 points ahead of second-placed Bahir Dar City who play Hawassa City an hour later.
The Horsemen maintained their dominance throughout the current campaign and successfully defended the title for the second year in a row. They are the outright winners of the country’s premier club football competition for the 16th time since it’s format was introduced as Ethiopian Premier League.
