Seedlings will be planted in more than 140 locations in Addis Ababa today: City Mayor

Addis Ababa, July 17, 2023 (FBC) – Addis Ababa City Mayor Adanech Abiebie, said that seedlings will be panted in more than 140 locations in the capital today as part of the campaign of planting of 500 million trees in a day.

The mayor made the remark while planting seedlings today at Gulele Botanical Garden in Addis Ababa.

It is stated that on the occasion members of the diplomatic community and various segments of the society were present at the seedlings planting event.

Ethiopia has been carrying out a massive tree planting activities under its Green Legacy Initiative which is initiated by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

According to recent data, Ethiopia’s forest coverage has jumped over 17 percent due to massive tree seedlings planting carried out over the past four years through the Green Legacy Initiative.
