Siranesh Yirga of Ethiopia wins the 2023 Shanghai Marathon

Addis Ababa, November 26, 2023 (FBC) – Athlete Siranesh Yirga Dagne of Ethiopia has won the 2023 Shanghai Marathon, a World Athletics Platinum Label road race, earlier today.

Athlete Siranesh clocked 2:21:28 to become the winner of this year’s event in the Chinese city.

Her compatriot Tadu Teshome his finished in the sixth place with the time of 2:25:05 although she was tipped for glory ahead of her fellow countrywoman and other competitors. Kenya’s Selly Chepyego (2:21:55) finished second and Eunice Chumba (2:22:20) of Bahrain finished third.

In the men’s race, Ethiopia’s Kinde Atanew finished on the sixth spot by clocking 2:08:27. Kenya’s Philemon Kipchumba (2:05:35) has won the men’s race whereas Tanzania’s Alphonce Simbu (2:05:39) settled for the second spot and the other Kenyan Solomon Yego (2:05:42) finished third.
