Spokesperson of IGAD Executive Secretary resigns

Addis Ababa, January 1, 2024 (FBC) – Nuur Mohamud Sheekh, the Spokesperson and confidante of the IGAD Executive Secretary Dr Workneh Gebeyehu is resigning from his role after three years in the role and seven years at IGAD.

During his time as the Spokesperson, Nuur developed excellent relations with communities, members of the diplomatic community and the media as he worked on enhancing the organisation’s culture, brand and reputation.

“Dear Nuur your absence will be very visible in our future endeavors. You were a friend and very good colleague For All IGAD staff. Amazing communicator and served IGAD with high professionalism, dedication and integrity,” Executive Secretary Workneh said.

“Today marks the completion of my tenure at IGAD, an organization that will always hold a special place in my heart. I am deeply appreciative of Workneh Gebeyehu (PhD) for the privilege to serve as his spokesperson! Under his exemplary leadership, I have gained invaluable knowledge and insights in diplomacy. I am also grateful to his predecessor, Ambassador Mahboub Maalim, for his wise counsel and unwavering support,” Nuur Mohamud Sheekh said in a social media.

“My heartfelt gratitude goes out to IGAD member states, the dedicated IGAD staff, and our valued partners, and the media for their support,” he added.
