Sumitomo Corporation hints at enhancing business engagement in Ethiopia in agriculture, mining

Addis Ababa, June 2, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Japan, Daba Debele, called on Sumitomo Corporation, a Japanese business enterprise, to scale up their business engagement in Ethiopia, according to the Ethiopian Embassy in Tokyo.

Ambassador Daba met today with Mr. Masayuki Hyodo, Director, President and CEO of Sumitomo Corporation.

During their meeting, the Ethiopian envoy highlighted Ethiopia’s huge business potential, opportunities, incentives provided by the government to foreign investors.

He called upon the CEO of Sumitomo Corporation to scale up the enterprise’s business engagement in Ethiopia.

Mr. Masayuki Hyodo, for his part, acknowledged the Ethiopian government’s support in their entrance of Ethiopia’s telecommunication sector in collaboration with Safaricom.

He disclosed plans to increase their business engagement in agriculture, mining other sectors in Ethiopia.

It is known that Sumitomo Corp (Sumitomo) is a business enterprise that operates in metal products, infrastructure, transportation, construction systems, media, network and lifestyle retail, general products, real estate, financial services, logistics, mineral resources and energy, chemicals, and electronics industries. It provides crop protection products, fertilizers, and other agricultural materials.
