UK considers making Ethiopia center for its Developing Countries Trading Scheme

Addis Ababa, January 31, 2024 (FBC) – Ethiopia’s Ambassador to the UK, Teferi Melesse, said that Ethiopia has leveraging its immense potentials to attract more foreign investments.

In an exclusive interview with FBC, Ambassador Teferi stated that last year alone several companies from the UK joined the Ethiopian investment landscape.

Ambassador Teferi added that the UK has shown interest to make Ethiopia a center for its Developing Countries Trading Scheme.

The UK began implementing a preferential trading scheme with 65 poor and developing countries.

Ethiopia’s Ambassador to India, Bizunesh Meseret, also told FBC that more than 600 Indian companies are now engaged in various manufacturing sectors in Ethiopia, adding that 43 other companies have started pre-investment activities commence operations in the country.
